My Blog's 2nd Anniversary

It has been 2 years since I began writing under the name The Disney Classics, and I’m surprised that I haven’t run out of content yet. Since writing my 1 year anniversary blog post, I have seen significant growth in loyal readers, followers on my Instagram page, and have been able to connect with people in other parts of the world. I am so glad that I have found a community that is accepting, uplifting, and dreams about magic just as much as I do. Let’s recap a little about what I’ve done this year with my blog!

What did I write this year?

Since May of last year, I’ve really dived into the history of the parks, films, and the people behind each project. Some of my favourite blog posts I wrote this year are:

Many of these posts turned out to be my favourites because they took the longest to dream up, write, and execute the way I wanted them to. I also learned a lot about the company through these posts, I often go back to the Disney eras blog post just to refresh my memory.

Who visited my blog this year?

From May 28th, 2020 to May 28th, 2021, I had 1,197 visitors to this website. Many came from Google searches, some from my social media, and some were direct. My most popular post over the last year and overall so far is The Hundred Acre Wood, Neverland, Agrabah - Are They Real? with 451 views. The next popular posts were Why is Cinderella the Leader of the Princesses? and Disney Legends - Dick Van Dyke.

I had 813 of my visits from those in the United States, mostly in California, followed by Indiana, Florida, New York, Utah, Texas, and Illinois as my top states. I had 280 visits from Canada, majority coming from British Columbia. I had many visits from the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, France, China, and the list goes on. I feel so lucky to have been able to get my work across the world, even if it’s just a handful of pageviews.

How did my blog change this year?

Content wise, I believe I spent more time doing the research for my blog posts compared to last year. It was also important to me to write more about things that I was actually passionate about. I have always admired Julie Andrews, Kathryn Beaumont, Ub Iwerks, and Adriana Caselotti, so it only made sense to write Disney Legends posts about them. I’m also a huge fan of Space Mountain and the Matterhorn Bobsleds, so adding them to the e-ticket series was a goal of mine. I was also able to write things my followers enjoyed, like The Hatbox Ghost blog post and the Holidayland post.

For my Instagram, I began adding a more nostalgic feel to my posts and stories. I wanted people to feel like they were taken back into the days of VHS anytime they opened up my page. I’m going to continue with this aesthetic as I learn more about design and what captures the eye.

What will I write for the next year?

I’m going to continue writing posts about the history behind Disney films and their original stories, write more about the Disney Legends who made the company what it is, and read more of my e-ticket magazines to bring you Disneyland ride history. I hope to address the ways the company have disappointed many diverse groups in the world - and make suggestions about how we can make it better.

If you have any suggestions about what you’d like to see, or if you’d like to collaborate on a post, send me a DM on Instagram or leave a comment below! I’m excited for what’s to come and so happy I have my little corner on the internet where history, happiness, and growth can ensue.
