Disney Movies You Probably Forgot About
Cinderella, Aladdin, Snow White, The Little Mermaid... these are just some of the movies that if you mentioned them in regular conversation, people would know they were Disney. The Golden Age (1937-1942), The Silver Age (1950-1959), The Renaissance Era (1989-1999), and The Revival Era (2010-present), or the most well known times for the Disney studios. All 4 of these eras have some of the most popular movies of all time. But what about the times between then? During the wartime? Early 2000s? The studios pumped out movies then too, that some of us may remember in our distant memory, but are definitely not as commonly known now. Here is a list of Disney movies that you probably forgot about.
Aladdin and the King of Thieves (1996)
This movie was one of the sequels to the original Aladdin, and it followed Aladdin, Jasmine, Abu, Carpet, and Genie on their journey to defeat the thieves in Agrabah. His father is introduced in this film as well!
Atlantis - The Lost Empire (2001)
This movie was a staple in my house on VHS, but I was always scared of it, and I didn't even know it was Disney! This is one of two Atlantis movies, about Milo and his quest to find the lost city of Atlantis after he finds a sacred journal that may help him find it.
Beauty and the Beast: Belle's Magical World (1998)
This movie was always confusing to me, just because it's a sequel, but it doesn't follow the original ending to Beauty and the Beast, since the castle staff are still objects. Nevertheless, this story was about how Belle made the castle more into her home and became closer with the Beast.
Bolt (2008)
Bolt is yet another movie that I didn't put together that it was Disney. It's about a famous Hollywood dog, who believes he's a real actor, who becomes lost and separated from his owner and has to find his way home with his acting skills.
Brother Bear (2003)
This movie always seemed like a Dreamworks movie to me, but here we are! Brother Bear is about how a boy named Kenai becomes a bear after he says he doesn't like them, and his brother unknowingly tries to kill him. This movie resembles Brave a lot.
Chicken Little (2003)
I really liked Chicken Little as a kid, but haven't given it a second thought as an adult. However, it does have some funny moments. A chicken in his city believes that the sky is falling, and discovers that it's actually aliens coming to visit the planet.
G-Force (2009)
G-Force is about a pack of Guinea pigs who are running from the FBI, trying to complete their missions on their own. I really don't know what this movie was. (sorry to fans of this one)
George of the Jungle (1997)
George of the Jungle was MY childhood! I would watch it every time I visited my grandparents house. It was the perfect mix between silly child humor and adult humor. It is about a man who was raised in the jungle by an ape, who visits New York after he falls in love with a tourist.
Inspector Gadget (1999)
I didn't know Inspector Gadget was a Disney movie until I started making this list. It is one of the most classic movies ever. John Brown, a regular security guard, becomes a high powered robotic human in order to defeat Dr. Claw.
Meet the Robinsons (2007)
Meet the Robinsons is about a time travelling boy, Lewis, who helps a family in the future. This movie also brought us Year 3000 by the Jonas Brothers. So it gave us some payoff!
The Emperor's New Groove (2000)
I'm sure a lot of people remember this movie and the characters, but probably not the story. Looking back on it, it's a pretty unique story, but could be hard to follow. A selfish and conceited emperor one day turns into a Llama, and his new friend must help him get back to his palace to turn back. Along the way, Kuzco the Llama is trying to not get killed by Yzma, who wants to be emperor.
Let me know if I missed any! Did you remember these movies? Did you know they were all Disney? Comment below!
